Keep your hand on the pulse

Renewable energy sources such as wind and solar, not only provide humankind with the cleanest and most sustainable energy, but have already become the most affordable and cheapest energy sources in the world. Wind energy is a frontrunner of the global green energy transition and wrestler against climate change. Renewables have demonstrated their strong resilience to the current global challenges including COVID-19 pandemic. The efficiency of modern wind turbines and the availability of wind power resource at the local level make wind technologies competitive to fossil fuel ones, which are still imported to both, EU countries and Ukraine.

The improvement and lowered cost of wind technologies facilitate their usage in the market conditions. This trend can be found in many countries around the world, where wind technologies have become widespread. In 2019 the Ukrainian wind power sector surpassed 1 GW installed capacity. It remains critically important to undertake further steps. The growing urgency of shifting to a low carbon economy in line with Ukraine’s international commitments, the need of decommissioning obsolete nuclear units and phasing out of coal-fired generation within the foreseeable future, create favorable  preconditions for the large-scale deployment of wind power in the country.

The annual conference of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association 2021 is dedicated to an expert discussion on further development of the national wind power industry in transition from feed-in tariff to market-based conditions. The UWEA’s annual event is supported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine. International Partner of the Conference is WindEurope, General Sponsor - Vestas Northern & Central Europe.

Be all ears and hear the voice of industry

State authorities, national stakeholders including wind manufacturers and developers of wind projects will discuss further wind development in Ukraine after 2022, the year in which no new wind or solar power plants could apply for “green” tariff. The list of key speakers includes Acting Minister of Energy of Ukraine Yuriy Vitrenko, WindEurope CEO Giles Dickson, Deputy Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Vyacheslav Shapovalov, MP’s of Ukraine, Chairman of the Management Board of NPC Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, Director of the SE Guaranteed Buyer Kostyantyn Petrykovets, Acting Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gura as well as representatives of Vestas, Nordex, GE and international experts from IEA, Energy Community, Bloomberg NEF and Wood Mackenzie.
